The Gorham Fontainebleau Sterling Silver Flatware pattern is a very eloborately decorated multi-motif pattern modeled after the french nobility and royalty of 16th century France. Each piece depicts a various person inclusive of royals, courtiers, servents, noblemen, queens, princesses, princes, kings and more.
The pattern was first made in the year 1880 and was likely not one made for too very long and in today's era, there is not much of it in existance. The values vary greatly depending on the piece type and the condition. Many of the pieces we've seen are in worn condition and don't fetch much more money than scrap. However, pieces in pristine condition with sharp details, good oxidation and also unusual pieces like fish servers can go for between $75-$150 per troy ounce which is a big premium above the scrap silver price.

Conclusion: If you are a collector of antique silverware, The Gorham Fontainbleau pattern is definitely one to consider adding to your collection. It can be fun adding on the various pieces and filling out what you own to include all the members of the French aristocracy. If you are lucky enough, it's possible to find a complete set.
