Curio Pattern by Gorham made of Mixed Metals of Sterling Silver, Copper, Gold, Brass

The Curio Pattern by Gorham is made of Mixed Metals of Sterling Silver, Copper, Gold, Brass. It employs the Japanese metal working technique of Mokume Gane with stacks different metals sheets in a pile and then they are annealed together. After process is complete, an accomplished artist will then skillfully carve out intentional cavities into the metal piece. The whole thing is then compressed and as a result of the thinning out process, a colorful tapestry of unique fluid variegated and somewhat abstract metal design patterns are then revealed.

The Curio mixed metal pattern by Gorham is very rare and seldom seen on the market. Very little of it was ever produced and in today's antique silver collectors market these are considered to be holy grail items. Only a privileged few museums and high end collectors will ever own pieces in this pattern.
